Secretly,

thatnigeriankid:

I’m jealous of African kids, or any 1st generation immigrant for that matter, who can speak their native language. My parents didn’t “Americanize” me, actually they did the complete opposite of that, and  although they speak my language at home and sometimes use it when talking to me the never really taught me. It’s not that I didnt care, but when I was younger I never saw it as a big deal becuase I knew a bunch of other African kids who couldn’t speak their language, and I still do. But I get jealous when I see kids who can talk to their parents or other people of their tribe/ethnic group in their native tongue. I’ve even met a white person who can speak my own language better than me. That’s just a shame.

Me too.
