NASA recently released imagery showing the deforestation of America  …in just 34 years.

This is….   this is the most horrible thing I’ve seen on the internet. The MOST horrible. Really, truly, please THINK for a moment about what this means.

Secretly,

thatnigeriankid:

I’m jealous of African kids, or any 1st generation immigrant for that matter, who can speak their native language. My parents didn’t “Americanize” me, actually they did the complete opposite of that, and  although they speak my language at home and sometimes use it when talking to me the never really taught me. It’s not that I didnt care, but when I was younger I never saw it as a big deal becuase I knew a bunch of other African kids who couldn’t speak their language, and I still do. But I get jealous when I see kids who can talk to their parents or other people of their tribe/ethnic group in their native tongue. I’ve even met a white person who can speak my own language better than me. That’s just a shame.

Me too.

Just take a look. It’s not super graphic, or I wouldn’t post it. But I want everyone to be informed, this is what’s happening on the other side of the globe. This is what I would be experiencing if my parents didn’t come here after they got married.

Look at this and realize how horrible some of humanity is. They shouldn’t even get to share that—they are far from humane. Look at this and realize how lucky we are to live where we do, and to have all the freedom we have.

Knowing that this is happening makes me cry. It hurts my heart. It hurts ALL of me. My whole being aches for these people and I long to do more for them.

This is me doing what I can, making sure these events don’t go unnoticed. This is me asking you all to pray for the people in Egypt, because we all know they need it. This is me asking you to reblog this, because it’s something tiny we can all do. Watch 5 seconds of the video, reblog, and say a prayer. That might add up to about 15 or 20 seconds of your day. Please do this, if not for them, then for me.

This is absolutely horrible. I have good friends who are Coptic Orthodox Christians. This is yet another example of how even though I hate all the hatred I receive from people for my faith here in America, at least I’m not DYING for it. These people lost their lives for no reason. We try to do a peaceful protest, and then end up having to protect ourselves from those trying to murder us. I’m so thankful, but at the same time I cry for my brothers and sisters. Why does this even have to exist in our world? There are a lot of lifestyles that I personally don’t agree with, but I don’t want to kill those people. I don’t even know what to say anymore. Please please please don’t be a “stereotypical” American and live in your own little world. Watch this video and know what is happening in our world.
